Why hardwood floors?

Wood floors add warmth and character to every style and decor, having few rivals when it comes to elegance. There are dozens of species available, all with unique attributes to fit any design. There are host of colors, grain textures and profiles available. And by adding custom inlays such as borders and medallions, the possiblilities are endless.

Is it true that hardwood floors provide a cleaner environment?

Absolutely! Hardwood Floors are as much as 80% cleaner and healthier than carpet. Carpet holds allergens such as dust, dust mites, mildew, dirt and grime. Having wood floors in your bedroom and other main living areas can improve air quality according to the American Lung Association. If you or your family suffer from asthma or allergies you should know that many doctors recomend hardwood floors for a healthier environment.

Are hardwood floors more expensive?

Although the initial investment might be slightly higher than other flooring options, hardwood floors don’t depriciate. Real wood floors are good for a home’s resale value and last the life of the home. Carpet is replaced three to six times before most solid wood floors need repair. Wood floors cost less in the long term and add value to your home. Real estate professionals agree that homes with hardwood floors sell faster and for more money than those with carpet. A wood floor is considered to be a worthy investment. Wood is also more energy efficient. The cellular structure of wood traps air, giving it superior insullation properties. It takes 15 inches of concrete to equal the insullation qualities of 1 inch of solid wood.

How do I maintain my floors?

Wood is the easiest floor to maintain and requires fewer chemicals to clean. With only a swivel mop and a non-aerosol spray a wood floor can be cleaned in half the time it takes to vacuum.
